WILLARD STRONG IN SEATTLE
SEATTLE SUPERCROSS
SEATTLE, WA - APRIL 26, 2008
Due to an off track injury and an eventful 11 weeks off from action,
Michael Willard wasn’t sure he would be able to race the Seattle SX.
As the weeks closed in, his feet healed properly and he received the
medical OK to race. He may experience some pain but as long as
he could endure it, he was good to go! Michael’s season hadn’t gone
as planned and he was determined to finish out the series strong.
In qualifying practice, the bike and rider looked good. Michael
turned in a 13th place time in the seeded practice-pretty strong
considering he’d seen little seat time after his February injury.
When the first lites qualifier gate dropped, things didn’t go as planned
and it was on to the LCQ where Michael buttoned up his spot in the Lites Main Event. A poor outside gate pick, resulting
from his LCQ transfer, was going to make this a battle. As the main event began, Michael was pinched off and was forced to
work his way up from the back of the pack. After a collision in lap one involved 8-10 riders, Michael got a break. He missed
the pile-up and at the end of lap one found himself in 13th place. The #86 Cycra Honda fought his way through the pack,
charging to a very impressive season best 9th place. In the end, the goals were met with a solid finish and as we start to
prepare for outdoors things seem to be heading in the right direction. One last SX this weekend in Vegas – we’ll keep you
posted.
