AMPRO YAMAHA/THAD DUVALL
TAKES XC2 WIN IN GEORGIA
GNCC ROUND 2
AMPRO YAMAHA RACE REPORT
Washington, Georgia was the location of round two of the
GNCC series. The course was tough with day ending mud
holes learking in every low spot on the course.
The XC1-Pro class had Barry Hawk getting the hole shot and gaining the Racer X hole shot award. Jason Raines came
through with a mid pack start and a lot of fire. In the XC2_Pro lites Thad Duvall getting a top five start but having a
major crash early on in the race. Walker Fowler was unable to ride due to an injury on Saturdays race aboard his ATV.
Walker finished 1st in the School-boy 13-15 yr. old class, but leaving the track to go have his ankle looked at. He
suffered minor tendon injuries and was advised to sit out the next days racing event. Ryan Belue had a great start and
rode all the way through his 4-Stroke B class along with Joseph Scherer getting a good start and great ride in the Open
A class.
Barry rode a great consistent race up until the last lap. He moved back to 7th place at the end of the 1st lap but by lap
three he was in 5th where he stayed until the final lap. The Hawkster had some trouble with his suspension fading and
said the bike started to feel real inconsistent, with the track only getting rougher that was a major problem. Barry
slipped back to 7th coming through the barrels at the finish line and placing him 6th for the series.
Jason Raines was running in the top 7 when he got stuck in a 'Georgia mud hole' on the 2nd lap, he lost 3 positions
and was a bit frustrated and riding hard to catch up to 9th place. On the end of the 3rd lap is where things got painful
for the WR 450 rider, he caught his leg in a rut and twisted it pretty good. The rest of the race was hard with the pain,
but still charged on and finished 12th and placing him 9th in the series points standings.
Thad Duvall had to pick himself up off the ground and ride hard the entire race. When Thad came through the first lap
check point he was only 2 seconds ahead of rival Monster Energy Kawasaki's Andrew Matusek. With his fresh injury to
his hand and the tough race course ahead Thad knew he had to ride the rest of the race smart. Which in fact he did
and finished out the day with another 1st place finish and first place overall in his class.
