CLAIMS DUTCH MX1 TITLE
2008 JUMBO OPEN DUTCH CHAMPIONSHIP

Yamaha Van Beers racer, Aigar Leok, has claimed the MX1 title after a stellar performance at the final round of the Jumbo
Open Dutch championship held in Heerde this weekend.
The Estonian’s triumph came with two great performances at the final round on a track that was both physically and
mentally demanding due to bad weather conditions. After losing the first MX1 moto to cousin and factory rider Tanel Leok,
‘Aix’ managed to turn the tables in moto 2. Aigar grabbed the lead early in the moto but was quickly challenged by Tanel
and had to give chase. With the lead swapping several times it was Tanel Leok who eventually cracked at the halfway mark
when a forced error gave Aigar the advantage he needed to hold onto the lead and take the victory and overall for the day.
“I’m glad to end the season off in a positive way” said Leok. “I know this championship is important to Yamaha and the Van
Beers team and I have done everything possible to get them the title. I thought my chances were over when I broke my
collarbone last month but I managed to get through the pain and now we have the title”
Evgeny Bobryshev secured his 3rd place in the MX2 championship with two consistent rides in Heerde. The friendly
Russian claimed a podium spot in the first moto after leading the race for some time, however Joel Roelants and Jeremy
Van Horebeek made their way past and Evgeny followed home in 3rd. The second moto seemed to be going well as
Bobryshev made his way into second behind Vanhorebeek however he lost his race rhythm and had to be content with 4th
place.
